What Is The Weight Of An Average Body Builder?

As a former bodybuilder, of the All Natural variety who competed in both Drug Free contest and against Drug allowed contestants in both the Men’s Open Heavyweight and Tall categories, I found that most male bodybuilders (amateur and/or Pro) tended to be around 5′ 08″ or 5′ 09″. This is the reason that guys like Arnold (No last name required), Lou Ferrigno, Serge Nubre and Mike Christenson, in particular tended to stand out as spectacular subjects. Each being over 6 feet tall. Particularly as it is so difficult to put sculptured, lean body mass and muscle on such long frames. These guys weighed in between 208 -and 275 pound.
Shorter BB athletes, think Franco Columbo, Lee Labrada, Shawn Ray, these guys are in the competive weight range of 185 – 200 pounds, at height around 5′ 03 – 5′ 06″.
Amateurs, of course can come in well under these competitive weights. On “average” most guys who win or compete frequently, if not, successfully as amateurs weigh about 185 – 195 pounds.
